Certification, Recertification, and You

Certification is a mark of excellence; don't lose it.

Certifications demonstrate you have the knowledge to ensure the quality of products and services. Certification is an investment in your career and in the future of your employer.

You made the effort to pass the certification exam in the first place - now maintain it by being recertified with ASQ.

Maintaining your certification secures the investment already made in your professional development.

You can now log all of your RUs as you earn them over the three year period through ASQ! They will be stored here on your record so, once your journal has been approved and your record updated, there is no need to keep hard copies any longer. To add, remove, review or adjust the activities on your journal, press the Edit button next to the appropriate recertification unit activity type and follow the instructions provided.

When you have logged a minimum of 18 points and you are within 6 months of your recertification date, hit the Recertify Now button at the bottom of the page and you will be taken through the process of submitting and paying for your recertification. Your journal will then be submitted to the recertification coordinator for approval. If we have any questions regarding your credits or documentation, we will contact you. Once submitted, you can check the progress through your My Certifications page.

Please note: In order to be eligible for RUs, activities must occur within your active 3-year recertification period. RUs claimed for activities that fall outside of the current active cycle will not count towards your overall RU total and you may notice your RU total decrease as you proceed to submit your journal (if you have logged an ineligible activity). Your active recertification period is the 3-year span of time prior to your ‘recertify by’ date. You can check your recertify by and expiration dates by signing into your account and visiting the My Certifications link. Please contact us at cert@asq.org with any questions.

Obtain 18 recertification units (RUs) within a three-year recertification period.

Or

Retake the certification exam at the end of the 3-year recertification period.

Note: You have a 6 month “grace period” from your recertification date to recertify by Journal. After the 6-month grace period, you will need to recertify by exam. If you do not recertify by exam within 1 year from your recertification date - your certification will expire/decertify and you will need to reapply for initial certification.
