DESCRIPTION:<a href="https://www.asqslc.org/event/june-asq-salt-lake-member
-workshop-16">June ASQ Salt Lake Member Workshop</a>\nJoin us in June! To
make informed data-driven decisions\, you need appropriate analysis of goo
d data. Unfortunately\, sometimes 90% of the allotted time is spent data-w
rangling (organizing\, formatting\, and cleaning or investigating the data
)\, leaving only 10% of available time for analysis. This workshop-style p
resentation will help you learn principles of organizing data so that it i
s ready for statistical software\, enabling more efficient and informative
analysis. As an exercise\, we will use a real dataset of automobile milea
ge and fuel consumption for a few vehicles. We will search for inconsisten
cies\, review formats\, and apply the 8 Dimensions of Data Quality to make
the dataset analysis-ready. You will learn a step-by-step process for pre
paring a dataset that is checked for quality\, documented\, and ready to b
e read into statistical software. Whether you supply data for someone else
to analyze\, collect and analyze your own data\, or analyze data that com
es from other sources\, this workshop will teach you principles to work ef
ficiently with data. Presented by: Mark Martin Mark Martin (CQE\, CRE\, CQ
 A) worked for 24 years as a statistician in the healthcare diagnostics ind
ustry. He has seen a wide range of datasets\, ranging from well-executed s
tudies with cleanly prepared datasets\, to poorly organized data requiring
lots of reformatting and investigation. Mark’s work was approximately 7
5% product development and 25% manufacturing support. Favorite activities
included designing experiments in collaboration with scientists and engine
ers\, improving processes\, designing efficient test protocols\, and suppo
rting troubleshooting efforts. Mark was also involved with non-clinical tr
ials. Having worked in the development of blood tests and automated immuno
assay analyzers\, Mark (as a patient) is a firm believer in regular wellne
ss testing\, in addition to the traditional use [...]
